Join me this weekend at the Leederville Town Hall in Western Australia for the Photo Markets!
Grab a good ole’ fashion homemade cup of tea and cakes made by Camera Club members and wander the hall looking for your next bargain! You can find anything from analogue darkroom equipment to digital cameras, tripods, bags, and lots of fun transportable cameras for the kids!
Truth be told, it’s also a great chance to catch up with some of your fellow photographers, aspiring students and self taught gurus!
I’ll be there with all of my excess equipment available for purchase to drop by and say hi!
On Friday 6th April 2018 FLIGHT a photographic exploration of FLIGHT launched at the Royal Aero Club of WA at Jandakot Airport.
Introduced by Saul from Camera Electronic and officially opened by the Honorable Lord Mayor Logan Howlett, the opening night was a wonderful evening with visitors treated to a unique display of hand made photography. A surpise appearance by Clair the Barn owl, falcon and their handler Domenic from the Raptor discovery centre, guests were treated to an up-close meet and greet by some feathered friends, curious to interact with their visitors.
Other guests included Mich from sponsor Kool Kreative, Deputy Lord Mayor of City of Cockburn Lee-Anne, and fellow councillors, members of the Workshop Camera Club, fellow photographers, Royal Aero Club of WA, pilots, and many more.

Join me at my first solo exhibition - FLIGHT - at the Royal Aero Club of Western Australia!
Shot on film, these unique hand printed photographic works emerge from the darkroom for the first time to explore the relationship between man, beast and bird, in our ever-evolving quest to fly.
Open to the general public, this event will be the first of it's kind held inside the Royal Aero Club of WA, at Jandakot airport. This original and contemporary location offers sweeping views of one of the busiest airfields and largest aviation training bases in Australia.
The exhibition includes a body of work produced by Danielle Briggs, containing rare images captured across Western Australia. Families are welcome to enjoy the exhibition while children can try their hand at making their own aircraft.

The start of 2018 brings exciting news!
My first solo exhibition to be held in Western Australia!
Sponsored by the City of Cockburn, negotiations are in place with a unique venue, where in early 2018, I will be exhibiting a collection of rare works. Archival photographic black and white images printed by hand, from original negatives, will be exhibited together, with the possibility of touring.
Work is underway on the construction of the location and creation of new work to be exhibited.
The exhibition will be open to the public with photographic workshops available.

Northam put on a spectular show this year with the Hot Air Ballooning championships being held from 2nd to 9th of September 2017.
Staying in single quarters in the lovely old Muresk Agricultural school just outside of Northam with members of the Workshop Camera Club, it was a very early start each morning, in 1 degree celcius! But what an adventure!
With changing wind conditions determining the mystery location of the take-off of the balloons each day, we had to be fed, camera gear at the ready and set to go by 5.15am. We all gathered in the common room kitchen, where we (bleary eyed) hit "refresh" on facebook, like addicted gamblers, until the championship organisers suddenly posted the secret take-off location. Then, it was "man your battle stations!!"
Photographers everywhere ran to their car, fully loaded with equipment for every eventuality! We drove in the dark to find an obscure farmers' paddock in the middle of no-where that was suddenly a frenzy of action! The Balloonists were already prepared and balloons were inflating.
With frozen fingers I raced to capture every moment. The firing of flames came with a comforting roar of sound, as people rushed around the base, controlling the inflation with ropes. When the time was right, it was time for take-off.
To be honest, the whole experience was an adrenalin rush - not exactly what you would expect from a hot-air ballooning contest! With an average of only 20-25 minutes before takeoff, I felt like quick-draw-mcgraw, changing films as quickly as possible and swapping cameras and lenses so as to not miss a moment of the light.
All those who attended were ready for the next morning - only to be told they would be taking off from our front yard at Muresk! We were all greatful!
It was then time to head to the local market for an egg and bacon burger, a warm cup of tea, and a debreif on the mornings events.

Opening on 10 February 2017 at the Port Hedland Courthouse Gallery, OBSCURA: Karijini through an abstract lens features photographs by Michelle Siciliano, Janelle Cockayne, Samantha Bell, Shirley Riley, Amber Hooke, Seren Edwards, Zoe Kickett, Alice King, Nils Friedrich, Danielle Briggs, Sonia Vine, Elly Lukale and Katie Evans.
The exhibition was developed from a photography camp facilitated by FORM in 2016 with renowned Western Australian photographer Bewley Shaylor and established abstract photographer Meleah Farrell.
28 year-old Zoe Kickett, a Port Hedland solicitor, signed up for the camp to find a creative outlet. “Objectively speaking, there is not a lot of room for creativity in my profession,” Ms Kickett said. “I was struck by how accessible the project was to anyone from the public.”
Port Hedland resident Elly Lukale said she hoped her photographs motivated people see the Pilbara a little differently. She has started a local venture printing her photography onto cushion covers and scarves. “I like that I can showcase the Pilbara from a different perspective with my abstract images, to maybe inspire people to look closely,” she said. “The closer you look, the more magical it becomes. The reality dissipates into dreamy colours, textures and shapes - everything becomes clearer through the lens.”
Mentor photographer Bewley Shaylor said the local photographers had created “powerful” abstract images of their Pilbara backyard.
“Karijini holds a kind of fascination but also it offers so much more for photographers who want to look deeper. We wanted to take a group of predominantly landscape photographers with us and get them to forget about being in a landscape photographer’s paradise and to try and see beyond that … throw away all the rules and use your camera as a tool to create movement and feeling.
The results were unpredictable yet stunning.”
OBSCURA : Karijini through an abstract lens will be opened alongside Worn Land, Four contemporary jewelers in the Pilbara by the Hon Brendon Grylls MLA and Port Hedland Mayor Camilo Blanco at 6pm on Friday 10th February in the Port Hedland Courthouse Gallery, 16 Edgar Street, Port Hedland.
A big thanks to all those that came down to Northbridge for Fresh Prints 2016! It was filled with all things printed on paper - a wonderful array of publications, paintings, drawings, photography and much more. It was great to meet such a wide variety of artists passionate about printed art and stories, all available to the public.

The sun came out for the day and drew a large crowd - all keen to snatch a rare piece of tangible artwork. Lots of fun was had by all. Bring on 2017!

When invited to be interviewed live on air on Breakfast With Caitlin at RTRFM in Perth on 14th April 2016, I can safely say I was pretty excited! After an early rise and arrival at the station at 7am, Caitlin ushered us inside while a song was playing.
My fellow guests included Zinemaker Rachel Quine and Chris Markle from 24 hour comics. We introduced ourselves and got aquainted - sharing our fear of making complete tools of ourselves live on air!
